Human Rights in Action Program
Project name: “Responding to Human Rights Violations and Empowering Citizens and Human Rights Defenders in Ukraine Activity” (“Human Rights in Action Program”).
A three-year program (from 2014 to 2017) supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in Ukraine by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union.
with the purpose of promoting and cultivating the culture of respect for human rights in Ukraine in line with European standards.
Objective 1: Human rights monitoring and advocacy increased and strengthened
Objective 2: Strategic litigation increased
Objective 3: Awareness raising and citizen empowerment improved and increased
Objective 4: Educational Human Rights House – Chernihiv strengthened
Objective 5: Survivors of torture and conflict are made as whole as possible for their loss and harm
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights acts as beneficiary of the Program.

The American people, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), have provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for 50 years. In Ukraine, USAID’s assistance focuses on three areas: Health and Social Transition, Economic Growth and Democracy and Governance.
