UHHRU wins 4 cases in Supreme Court’s Grand Chamber

Today, on 7 February 2017, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine remanded 4 cases for re-examination following a decision of the European Court of Human Rights

The cases dealt with the issue of timely notification of plaintiffs regarding the examination of their cases by an appellate court.

Mykhailo Tarakhkalo, director of UHHRU Strategic Litigation Center: “Courts followed a simplified procedure, and plaintiffs had no time to express their objections and formulate their position. The Grand Chamber recognized violations in these cases and remanded them to an appropriate appellate court for re-examination.”

The decision to remand these cases was precipitated by this judgment of the European Court of Human Rights.
