UHHRU took part in a meeting with the delegation of the International Criminal Court

On June 20, 2018, NGOs met in Kyiv with representatives of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court who are conducting a preliminary study of the situation in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union was represented by lawyers Vitaliya Lebid and Darya Svyrydova.

NGOs presented updated information on crimes against humanity and war crimes perpetrated in eastern Ukraine, in Crimea and at the Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity.

UHHRU representatives shared the progress in the gathering of evidence of crimes that are within the ICC jurisdiction.

The Office of the Prosecutor is currently conducting a preliminary study of the situation in Ukraine and analyzing evidence. ICC delegates emphasized the importance of keeping in contact with NGOs in order to obtain information on violations committed in the course of the armed conflict.
