On Wednesday, August 8, at 12.00, UHHRU press conference entitled Civil and political rights. Is the government taking into account the impact of the armed conflict in the implementation of the Covenant? will take at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center (Ukrainian House, 2 Khreshchatyk Street)
The event will be dedicated to the alternative report for the UN Human Rights Committee on the implementation by Ukraine of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The report studies the state of implementation of 15 recommendations of the Committee by the government, provided after the examination of the previous report.
UHHRU experts will be talking about such issues as freedom of speech, conscience and assembly, anti-discrimination policy and fight against hate crimes, as well as combating of torture, ill-treatment and violence.
Particular attention will be given to the urgency of the Committee’s Final Recommendations.
