UHHRU and SIM center presented new draft bill on registration of civil records under occupation

On 25 January human rights activists offered their opinions regarding the existing draft law at the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs

The roundtable “Ways of eliminating discrimination in registration of births and deaths of persons in occupied territories of Ukraine” was attended by representatives of state authorities, namely of the above-mentioned Ministry and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as by experts from a number of human rights organizations.

Analyst of the Center for Law and Political Studies SIM Andriy Hnyda and lawyers of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union Maxym Tymochko and Anna Rassamakhina presented a study “Barriers to exercising of rights and freedoms in occupied territories in the Crimean peninsula and temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts”. The activists also presented their own version of the draft law “On introducing amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the implementation of administrative procedure for civil registration of episodes occurring in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”. Follow this link to see the version in the form of a comparative table.
