The European Court will consider the applications of Ukrainian prisoners of war on priority basis

An application in the interests of Ukrainian soldiers, who are held captive by terrorists, was filed to the European Court of Justice with the support of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union.

The document states that the area where the soldiers were captured is controlled by the terrorists of the DNR, who, in their turn, are agents of the Russian Federation as they get financing, logistical support and weapons from the RF. Thus, the responsibility for the lives and health of prisoners falls to Russia as a country that controls the terrorists.

Human rights activists are asking the Court to take urgent actions and compel the Russian Federation to immediately release Ukrainian military men from captivity.

The European Court of Human Rights has informed the Union to give the application a priority status.
