Human rights activists instructed activists on recording human rights violations and war crimes in the East of Ukraine

Human Rights in Action USAID Program, which is implemented by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, conducted training, attended by over 30 activists giving regular visits to the ATO area in order to detect and record human rights violations and war crimes.

Gathered information will be added to a rich database of MEMEX, which will help the human rights activists generate a comprehensive vision of the situation regarding violations of human rights and provisions of the international humanitarian law.

Human rights organizations plan to prepare reports on the basis of the acquired data and present them at the international level as well as release them to public through mass media.

In future human rights activists will create an interactive map of human rights violations, where anyone will be able to see the situation with human rights violations in the ATO area.

Also, gathered information will constitute grounds for working on strategic litigations in the interests of people aggrieved in the result of hostilities in the East of Ukraine.
