European Parliament adopted resolution on the Ukrainian prisoners in Russia and the situation in Crimea

Today at 12:00 European Parliament adopted resolution on the Ukrainian prisoners in Russia and the situation in Crimea (2017/2596(RSP), resolution was prepared based on  joint motion agreed between 5 political groups.

Due to the advocacy effort of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union made in partnership with Center for Civil Liberties, Human Rights Information Center, Crimean Human Rights Group, People in Need and coordinated by the Human Rights House Network, names of more political prisoners have been included in the list (now resolution mentions 62 Ukrainian citizens illegally persecuted by Russian authorities, 49 out of whom are residents of Crimea).
Resolution also called on the simplification of the procedure set up by Ukrainian authorities to access Crimea for human rights organizations and international monitors.
