Island of Abandoned Possessions. Why the government bans the Crimeans to carry their own property

On February 17, at 10:30, the press conference, dedicated to the issue of crossing the border between the mainland Ukraine and the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea on the topic “Island of Abandoned Things: why the government bans the Crimeans to carry their own property?” will be held at the Ukrinform press center.

Organizer: the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.

Yulia Kazdobina, an Advisor to the Minister of Information Policy on Crimea (moderator);

Ilia Ilyin, a Crimean IDP student, the victim of Resolution №1035;

Valentina Potapova, Deputy Chairman of the Civic Education Center “Almenda”;

Olesia Tsybulko, an Advisor to the Minister of temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons;

Hanna Rassamakhina, a lawyer of the public reception on Crimea issues of the UHHRU.

Questions for discussion:

  • What do Ukrainian citizens face crossing the border line?
  • Is this practice in line with commitments of Ukraine to respect human rights?
  • How one can fix this situation?
