Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union with the support of USAID ‘Human Rights in Action’ programme, within the national educational program ‘Understanding Human Rights’ and with the assistance of the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, starts the Ukrainian contest of scientific methodological insights into human rights (development of lessons and educational events).
The contest is to promote the implementation of the National Strategy on Human Rights (Decree of the President of Ukraine №501/2015) and the World Programme for Human Rights Education (adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2004), to disseminate information on human rights, create interest to current issues in the field of human rights, identify and stimulate creatively gifted students interested in human rights activities, promote vocational guidance, encourage to exercise active life position, and form the respect for human dignity in the Ukrainian society.
The contest invites teachers, creative teams of educational institutions, research institutions, NGOs, regardless of professional education, teaching experience and age.
All winners of the Contest will receive diplomas; the best essays will be published on the website of Ukrainian educational program ‘Understanding Human Rights’. Contest participants, who take I, II and III places, will receive diplomas of prizewinners and valuable gifts. The awards ceremony will be held publicly with the participation of co-organizers of the Contest. Media will cover the event. The school, where the winner works, will get a seminar on human rights organized by Contest’s organizers involving leading experts in the field.
The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2016, 5 p.m.
